Dimitris Anastasiou

Dimitris Anastasiou Dimitris Anastasiou (Athens, 1979) studied painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts (ASFA) under professor Chronis Botsoglou. During his studies, he also attended workshops in printmaking (under G. Milios), photography (under M. Baboussis), and multimedia (under M. Santorineos). He has presented four solo exhibitions in Athens and has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. In his painting, Anastasiou draws elements from the structure of comic books to create sequential imagery. Polyptychs or compositions featuring story panels open up to various combinations, creating a conceptual and visual interplay. Characterized by detailed and precise draftsmanship, his works incorporate symbols from art history and suggest a suspended state—a passage between the psychological and objective world, representation and reality. His first graphic novel, titled A=-A, is published in Greek by Kaleidoscope Publications and in English by Jonathan Cape. He lives and works in Athens.
